Hey Siri, Pause the Music

Jk let it ride...

Hello savages.

I almost didn’t write this newsletter this week as things got super busy, but then I thought about how much I’d miss you.

I moved into a new apartment in Boston with my girlfriend. Fun!

It was a big week at work with tons of exciting projects going on.

The ones I can tell you about that I wouldn’t have to kill you are just some great pitches for newsletter projects and working with new talent, plus Julian Edelman is in studio TODAY for our first guest of The Quick Snap podcast season 2. I posted a LinkedIn message about hiring a writer for a new project (👀) and legit have 300 DMs so going through those (reply if interested). Those other projects I will keep you posted on!

Plus, a hangover from my fantasy football in-person fantasy football draft last weekend.

I think the hangover was less about the absurd amount of beers and more about the 4 quarters of 3v3 football we played in 3 feet water in the lake + going 15 feet in the air on a tube.

Also, a highlight from the weekend was having our league loser sing the National Anthem ahead of our draft:

Then we made everyone wear stickers on their shirts to lunch that said “I Drafted Today” mimicking the “I Vote Today” stickers.

Ok, enough fantasy football, for god’s sake.

I was going to write a quick note to everyone saying, “Hey I am way too busy and tired to put together a good product this week and see you next week.”

But here I am, already writing, so f*** it.

Marketing ideas for marketers who hate boring

The best marketing ideas come from marketers who live it.

That’s what this newsletter delivers.

The Marketing Millennials is a look inside what’s working right now for other marketers. No theory. No fluff. Just real insights and ideas you can actually use—from marketers who’ve been there, done that, and are sharing the playbook.

Every newsletter is written by Daniel Murray, a marketer obsessed with what goes into great marketing. Expect fresh takes, hot topics, and the kind of stuff you’ll want to steal for your next campaign.

Because marketing shouldn’t feel like guesswork. And you shouldn’t have to dig for the good stuff.

One Big (Sleepy) Thing

On the thought of pressing pause, IT IS OKAY TO STOP AND BREATHE.

I know I often write here about how important consistency is in anything you do, but everyone needs a break at one point.

Take a step back and press pause.

I am not listening to my own words as I write this but that’s kind of the whole point, isn’t it? It’s easy to tell other people to slow down, to breathe, to take a break. It’s a lot harder to look in the mirror and admit you need the same.

I love the chaos of back-to-back projects, the late nights, the fantasy drafts that somehow turn into Olympic-level water football. That’s the fuel for me. But sometimes, the very thing that fuels you can also burn you out if you don’t respect the balance.

So here I am, writing a newsletter I swore I didn’t have the energy to write.

But here’s the truth… pressing pause doesn’t mean you stop caring. It means you value the bigger picture enough to pull back, catch your breath, and then dive back in when you’re actually ready.

A well-timed timeout by a coach is sometimes the key to a great comeback.

The “pause” can be a small act like shutting off your phone or getting an extra hour of sleep.

Other times, the “pause” looks like watching your fantasy league loser stand up and belt the National Anthem like Whitney Houston in front of twelve drunk men.

Both moments matter.

So, I’m reminding myself, as much as I’m reminding you: it’s okay to pause.

It’s okay to rest. It’s okay to not have your foot on the gas 24/7.

The work will still be there tomorrow.

The people you care about will still be there tomorrow.

And you’ll be in a way better spot to actually enjoy it all if you give yourself permission to reset today.

See you savages next week, with some more gas in the tank.
