A Change of Scenery
Everyone needs this in their life...
It’s easy to get stuck in the same constant cycle of your everyday routine and life.
Your silly brain gets tricked into thinking that’s how life will be forever, and that mind of yours starts to get lazy.
By “lazy” I mean you lose a little creativity in this never-changing cycle.
It becomes hard to really think outside the box.
You know what is the true cure? A change of scenery.
A fun little trip this past weekend to the Sunshine State celebrating my dad’s 60th birthday party unlocked this thought.
Yeah, we had a fricken blast.
This not a paid ad for everyone to just go buy a plane ticket to Florida for the weekend, but it is highly encouraged.
There are very small, simple changes that you can make to your daily routine that will open up a whole new world of brainstorming for you.
A Fresh Perspective
A “change of scenery” could mean a bunch of things.
Some examples of actual physical location changes…
Take a Zoom call in a different room than you normally do
Go to a coffee shop for the day instead of your apartment
Sit in a different desk at your office
Buy a hotel in a place you’ve never been for a weekend, close the laptop, don’t think about work, go explore, and have a blast
A little change of scenery like this could really trigger something in your brain to change things around, open up your brainstorming a bit.
Other daily routine things you could change up…
Listen to a podcast instead of music today
Instead of two fried eggs for breaky, have three! #BulkingSeason
Try tying your left shoe before your right shoe, will change your world
Instead of hitting 25 putts in a row from 6 feet on a practice mat before bed, just go to bed (does not everyone do this??)
Maybe you don’t have a “creative job” that doesn’t take much creative thinking (me thinking back to my days in insurance, RIP).
But you can always think creatively about your career path and how to level up, just try something new.
Don’t do drugs, folks. Just change scenery.
New fresh approach to anything could always be a major benefit.
And that new approach can be something so little.
Welcome to Miami
On my trip to Florida, I didn’t come up with anything life changing at all. Just was able to take a step back and look at things from a different lens.
Certain projects we’re working on over here at Shadow Lion require an open mind, given we’re in a very creative industry and our livelihood depends on the strength of “the creative”.
I wasn’t even feeling “stuck” in my life or at work. Just noticed that the trip made me think differently about both, for the better!
Also, I did read that the airwaves on a plane make you think more creatively, so maybe that’s literally all I am feeling, and this Diary post is debunked and dumb. Real article on this theory from a real company.
I was told don’t take naps on planes, unless it was a 48-hour bender to Miami, which this past weekend trip to Miami was not, but I cannot say the same about my 2019 first year out of college trip there. I needed that plane nap. Sorry creativity!
Basically me at LIV on South Beach
I started writing this post from sunny Florida in a jolly happy mood, and just finished the final edits back in rainy, 40-degree weather in Boston. Damn it.
Would this be a Danny’s Diary without mentioning my little niece??

LOOK AT HER!
See you next week you beautiful people.
