Are you ready for some football?
Yes.
Some big news in the Danny’s Diary camp on this god damn BEAUTIFUL Wednesday summer day!
“Could he actually be this excited that NFL football is being played in 31 days??”
Yes, pretty much.
BUT… this football season is going to be special as Shadow Lion is taking our Patriots podcast, The Quick Snap, that I get the absolute honor of producing to the next level and partnering with NBC Sports Boston this fall for Season 2.

I know, the artwork is sick.
What does all that mean? How’d we get here? Let’s break it down…
If you don’t give an F about my writing or perspective, you can read the official press release from NBC Sports Boston here.
One Big (Proud) Thing
A little recap on what “The Quick Snap” is:
A football podcast hosted by former New England Patriots captain David Andrews and veteran quarterback Brian Hoyer. The show delivers in-depth analysis, candid conversations, and exclusive insights from two players who lived inside the Patriots locker room. Every Wednesday, Andrews and Hoyer will break down the Patriots season, offering fans a unique behind-the-scenes look at game prep, strategy, player dynamics, and what it’s really like to play in New England. The show will deliver fans a front row seat to every game, every week, and will feature exclusive interviews with current and former players, among other special guests.
What to expect from the NBC Sports Boston partnership:
We are filming in-person episodes in their gorgeous studio (some pics below, really great looking space)
Episodes will air on NBC Sports Boston through their linear TV channel on Wednesday nights at 6pm ET
You can also get the show anywhere you get podcasts! (YouTube, Apple, Spotify, etc.)
Our announcement video was an “NBC Cribs” episode where I walked them around the new space while they just sh*t on me pretty much…
Yes, David is sitting on a bunch of delicious looking Miller Lites, my new favorite beer. Yes, they are a sponsor. So yes, I love them.

So, let’s rewind a little bit here folks.
About 45 days before the NFL season kicked off last year, our Shadow Lion team sparked the idea of coming up with a localized Patriots podcast.
Given our close ties to veteran QB Brian Hoyer, we gave him a call knowing he had just retired from football and was likely looking for the next step in his career.
We wanted to have the second host be someone in the actual locker room and on the current 2024 Patriots team, along with a buddy of Hoyer’s so the chemistry was good.
So, he suggested David Andrews, the captain of the team and long-time starting Center! (The connection you get from putting your hands up another man’s ass to receive an oval shaped ball is like no other on the planet).
As a next step, we ran a test episode in-person. This was my first time ever meeting the guys. I told them several times we weren’t going to air that episode and was simply just to test things out.
BUT the test episode absolutely ROCKED and we launched it as our first ever Quick Snap episode.
From there we ran a weekly show, shooting the next six weeks in person down at Gillette Stadium. Between 5am car rides, 3-hour set up and breakdown times and moving schedules with the guys after David got injured, we decided to go fully virtual.
By that time, I had forced my way onto the show and sh*tting on “Producer Danny” became the half of the show’s content. My personal relationship with the guys started to grow as well, which became fun. Some brotherly love between us.

Look how cute we are, this is a picture we sent to Brian when he didn’t come golfing with us
I was very proud of the product we were able to deliver in the first season of doing the show.
We interviewed a ton of great former Boston athletes including Gronk, Devin McCourty, and Rob Ninkovich, even former Celtic Blake Griffin. Along with a bunch of current Pats players on the team.
I think Patriots Nation really appreciated the different perspective coming from players who have actually been in the locker room and experienced the glory years with Tom Brady and Belichick, but also understand the downer years that were the last five seasons.
It’s a show from the players, for the fans.
We wrapped up the Season 1 with a final episode of David acknowledging being cut by new head coach Mike Vrabel and his retirement from the NFL, which was our highest viewed episode.
Then we took a pause on recording episodes for the football offseason, and our latest video drop was me sprinting around Gillette Stadium catching passes from Brian Hoyer trying to impress the Patriots GM.
I showed some heart (and talent), but the Patriots GM never returned my phone call regarding my tape.
And now we’re here. We spent this offseason pitching our show to new local media partners, but NBC Sports Boston was the absolute perfect partner.
They are already heavily invested in Patriots football content, have a larger audience that is 100% Bostonians that love Patriots football and a state-of-the-art news studio 90 seconds from our Shadow Lion office where we can record episodes.
I’m not just saying they are the perfect partner because now they are our partners and stuck with them, but they are literally the PERFECT partners because of all the value they add to the show.
I am fired up. David and Brian are juiced about getting their mugs on the BIG SCREEN this fall and taking our show to the next level.
Shoutout F.W. Webb and Miller Lite. You guys absolutely rock.
Shoutout the NBC Sports Boston for believing in the show. Kevin Miller, Aaron Thomas and Zach Brill over there, I’ve been very impressed with you and the entire NBCU staff!
Shoutout Shadow Lion for giving me the trust and freedom to run with this show as the executive producer.
And shoutout the Patriots, let’s go win a Super Bowl.
Going to be a very fun football season.
