Fantasy Playoffs > New Year’s Resolutions
It's that time of year...
I debated not putting out an article this week because I am in the Fantasy Football Playoffs for all three of the leagues I am a member of (very impressive, I know), and I need to lock the f*** in.
It would be the biggest accomplishment of my entire professional career to go three for three here. I have the rosters to do so, now it’s about execution.
Lock it in, Heals.
Shoutout Jayden Daniels for being the common denominator on all three teams being my starting QB.
Three! That’s right, Jayden! All three!
So, I couldn’t let you sit high and dry on this beautiful Wednesday morning without a Diary post.
While I am scatter-brained this week solely debating which two of these three RBs I start should (Isiah Pacheco, D’Andre Swift, Jonathan Taylor - reply to this email with a decision), I am going to dig deep here and pump out a post.
Let’s talk New Year’s resolutions…
I know, how God damn cliche can I be? You probably just exited the email. Potentially unsubscribed. But my girlfriend actually gave me this idea. So just blame her.
I want to just generally talk about New Year’s Resolutions.
Because I think they are actually a very good thing to do.
Forcing yourself to set goals is a very good exercise. Nothing crazy, just a couple achievable goals over the next 365 days.
When people set these, I feel like three main themes always come to mind: Lose weight, drink less, make more money.
Granted, those are all really good things to do (maybe besides drinking less I never understood that one), but you can think outside the box a more.
Get creative with it, and not every goal has to be an absolute Hail Mary.
Like relax dude, you’re not gonna hit 80% of your sports bets in 2025. Unless you follow me on X, it’s just not gonna happen, man.
Also, you should write this shit down. You’ll easily forget any 2025 goals you drunkenly yell to your friend when the ball drops in a few weeks.
So, open your notes app, throw this 2012 “Epic Football Pump Up” video on your TV screen, and let Tim Tebow’s national championship halftime speech get injected into your veins as you write the greatest list of 2025 goals anyone has ever f****** written.
Talk yo talk!
My 2024 Goals
Here’s actually a direct screenshot of a list of goals I set last year on December 16th, 2023.
More Practical Decisions vs. Emotional
I have a hard time saying “no” to peeps. I’m pleaser, what can I say.
But a lot of times the practical “no” is the correct decision instead of the emotional “yes”.
Part of this goal was getting rid of empty promises, which come a lot of the times with saying yes to things you probably shouldn’t be.
So, this one is hard to effectively track but I’d like to think I got better at this.
Morning Blitz Ownership & New Full-Time Job in Sports Media
Last December was a very, very critical moment in my life when it came to my career.
Catch up here for all the new subscribers who have no idea who I am or what Morning Blitz is.
TLDR: Morning Blitz was a sports newsletter I founded back in 2019 and grew to a sizable subscriber list as well as social audience. Poured everything I had into that puppy. TorchPro was a sports media company we merged with after a few years and helped build.
I know this post was written back in May, but the process of figuring my Blitz / TorchPro next steps out started in late 2023.
If you didn’t real that catch up article, the spoiler alert is that I did NOT get back the Morning Blitz ownership.
I fought hard to do so with the TorchPro team given it was my baby, and I put five incredible years into building it, but we unfortunately could not agree on terms or any next steps.
So, I failed there. Really sucks. Someone hand me a f******* tissue. I miss you, Blitz.
The second half of this goal was accomplished.
HELLO SHADOW LION!
I’m not going to go into too much detail on this post why Shadow Lion is the absolute perfect landing place for me, but it’s the absolute perfect landing place.
Operating a Patriots podcast with former players, working on another show with a former head coach of the Patriots on his studio show, hustling brand sales, social media growth strategy, and all the other very exciting things that happen every day.
People always ask what I do at Shadow Lion, and my answer is pretty much “everything but hold a camera and edit”. The people that do that are 10x more talented than me at what I do though. Brilliant squad over there at SL.
I’ll dive more into my Shadow Lion 2024 flashback in a coming letter in the next few weeks.
I lost the Blitz, but I won the long game with being at Shadow Lion
Less Screen Time
I am on my phone a lot. Like a ton.
Granted, I work on my phone for a living being essentially a social media manager for about 17 different shows posting on YouTube, IG, X, Tok and wherever else.
I average over 8 hours a day on my damn iPhone. Probably a problem.
That being said, I dropped this a bit from 2023. So, chalk it up as a W.
More Intently Listen to Conversations
Actually, now that I re-write that one, I am almost positive that was my girlfriend stealing my phone and writing that one in.
Babe, I apologize I sometimes fade when you are going on about Love Island drama or what clothes you recently purchased and don’t like.
I sincerely apologize.
I’ll have to ask her if I accomplished this one of not. Stay tuned.
Fix Back Pain
I am only 28 years old. Yet, there were days this past year I couldn’t even walk because of my back. Literally spent two weeks on my floor horizontal without moving in 10/10 pain.
BUT I WON AT THIS GOAL!
I miraculously was introduced to Paul Hagerty, a former TB12 Sports acupuncturist (is that a word?) and massage therapist. I went in one day, he found the exact spot on my back that had a burst disc, put 20 needles in my back, took a flame for 30 minutes to heat up the needles and BANG, was relieved of all my pain.
If you’re reading this and have been debating doing acupuncture, DO IT. It seriously changed my life.
But see, goals can be something weird and fun like this.
I wish I could list out my 2025 goals. I just don’t know them yet.
Winning my fantasy football championships will be at the top of the list though.
Thanks for tagging along, see you next fools.
Billionaires wanted it, but 66,737 everyday investors got it first… and profited
When incredibly rare and valuable assets come up for sale, it's typically the wealthiest people that end up taking home an amazing investment. But not always…
One platform is taking on the billionaires at their own game, buying up and offering shares of some of history’s most prized blue-chip artworks for its investors. In just the last few years, those investors realized representative annualized net returns like +17.6%, +17.8% and +21.5% (among assets held 1+ year).
It's called Masterworks. Their nearly $1 billion collection includes works by greats like Banksy, Picasso, and Warhol, all of which are collectively invested in by everyday investors. When Masterworks sells a painting – like the 23 it's already sold – investors reap their portion of any profits.
It's easy to get started, but offerings can sell out in minutes.
