The Internet Needs to Calm Down

But we all know they won't...

One Big (Pressure) Thing

The world (aka the toxic internet users) absolutely exploded on Texas QB Arch Manning over the weekend.

Name sound familiar? Yeah, that’s the nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning and was the #1 QB recruit coming out of High School.

Now in his 3rd year at Texas, he started in his first college football game on Saturday.

Texas was ranked #1 in the country.

He was the Heisman favorite according to the Vegas books coming into the season.

All these facts led to Arch’s Week 1 being one of the most highly anticipated college football debuts maybe ever.

Unfortunately for him, that game was against the reigning college football national champions that happen to have the best defensive player in the country (Caleb Downs), a mad rocket scientist as their defensive coordinator (Matt Patricia) and a very smart and veteran Head Coach that understands how to deal with animosity (Ryan Day).

Ohio State is a wagon.

So yeah, needless to say, there was an intense amount of pressure on Arch.

Clearly, he didn’t read my “Pressure is a Privilege” Diary from a few months ago.

Because he was 17/30 with 170 passing yards and 1 TD with a very bad INT in the debut.

BUT WILL EVERYONE HOLD THEIR HORSES!!

My lord.

I hope this kid took the advice of his legendary uncles and stayed off social media because it was BRUTAL.

Here’s my football analysis: Arch looked really bad, but is going to be completely fine. Go re-read the paragraph above about the defending champion Ohio State Buckeyes. I forgot to mention the game was on the road in Columbus, Ohio. He’s got a very long career ahead of him. He may not win the Heisman this year, but his football career is still bright. It will take time to develop and that was his first meaningful live action.

So yeah, just chill out internet.

Pressure isn’t the enemy, but it’s a chance to learn and get better.

One game doesn’t define a career. In any arena.

Don’t kill the kid yet, time will tell if Arch decides to really step up to the plate and embrace the pressure.

Just remember, Arch, pressure is a privilege.

The pressure and performance from Bill Belichick in the embarrassing college coaching debut at UNC against TCU where they got absolutely blown out? Well, that’s a story for another day…

7 Actionable Ways to Achieve a Comfortable Retirement

Your dream retirement isn’t going to fund itself—that’s what your portfolio is for.

When generating income for a comfortable retirement, there are countless options to weigh. Muni bonds, dividends, REITs, Master Limited Partnerships—each comes with risk and oppor-tunity.

The Definitive Guide to Retirement Income from Fisher investments shows you ways you can position your portfolio to help you maintain or improve your lifestyle in retirement.

It also highlights common mistakes, such as tax mistakes, that can make a substantial differ-ence as you plan your well-deserved future.

P.S.

I have never had a real college football team to root for.

Growing up it was cool when Matt Ryan was at BC and they were ranked in the top 5, but the school hasn’t sniffed that status since.

New England football fans are all in on the Patriots (my Pats pod with David Andrews and Brian Hoyer drops today with Julian Edelman as our first guest!). NFL ball is what we do.

Plus, my alma mater Colgate is D1AA in football.

But it’s a new me this football season.

I have officially declared my allegiance to Ohio State University for the 2025-26 football season.

Sucks cause I’m a year late and they won the National Championship last year, but I am a Buckeye nonetheless.

Why am I band wagoning the defending national champions like an absolute chump?

Because when I produced Bill Belichick and Matt Patricia’s podcast last Fall, me and Matty P got super close.

Jealous, I wish I could rock that hat

Then Ryan Day hung out with me and my family via a connection with Matty P and he couldn’t have been a nicer dude.

I have some friends and family that are Buckeyes, so with all the personal connections, I am all in.

Excited to go to my first big college football game in November when the Buckeyes welcome top 5 ranked Penn State to the Horseshoe.

Very, very excited.
