The Most Cliche Thing You'll Read Today

But you'll wanna hear it...

In partnership with

Teamwork makes the dream work.

I wasn’t lying in the subject line.

It’s sooooo cliché I almost want to stop this post right here and now.

BUT it’s an extremely true and important statement, so let’s continue the thread.

You can’t get it done alone, you simply cannot.

The team, the team, the team.

List of People ”Teamwork” Applies To

  • Entrepreneur building a business from scratch

  • C-Suite executive at a Fortune 500 company

  • Entry level marketing manager

  • A dude at a bar trying to get a girlfriend (needs his boys as wingmen)

  • Starting QB of the New York Jets (I am pretty sure Aaron Rodgers is subscribed?)

  • A dog that needs to poop (needs owner to open the door)

  • A degenerate gambler placing a parlay (needs confirmation from friends group chat)

  • A dude writing a Diary that he named after himself (needs people to read it)

YOU cannot accomplish your ultimate goals without a TEAM.

So, stop thinking you’re good and don’t need help. Accept a teammate’s help and go accomplish greatness.

Reply to this email with things you don’t think need a “team” to be successful and I’ll prove you wrong, money back guaranteed!

Here’s some real-life scenarios where I’ve seen teamwork actually make the dreamwork and when being selfish results in failure….

Most Legendary Interns of All-Time

The Day 1 Homies

I’ve mentioned the Blitz before (and often) but for the newcomers, I started a sports newsletter 5+ years ago called Morning Blitz. I finished the journey with over 50,000 daily readers, but that’s not the important part of the story.

We NEVER missed a single day of sending out the newsletter.

My co-founder Noah Cartwright and I were swamped when we started the newsletter with real-world jobs and a list of other responsibilities.

Some of those responsibilities included Thursday happy hours at Gem Saloon in NYC that I just simply could not say no too.

For anyone who hasn’t stopped into this fine NYC establishment, it’s not the place you’d imagine being able to properly write a sports newsletter after leaving.

Cue the Blitz Interns.

The most bad-ass individuals on the planet (outside of these Navy SEALs I wrote about a few weeks ago).

They picked up the slack helping our Morning Blitz operation to never miss a single day of sending the newsletter.

Did these incredibly valuable interns get paid you ask?

Not a single cent.

I wish that wasn’t case. I wish I could give them a Jordan Love-esque contract of $55M per year. But I just didn’t have the funds.

There was a fantastic culture of grinders and kids that wanted to win in the Blitz org.

No one in that Zoom pic (several other important members not shown) took the Blitz selfishly and did things on their own. It was a team game.

There was daily communication of who would be writing what sections and owning each part of the process.

We had an MLB guy. NFL guy for Sunday nights. NBA junkie. A dude specifically coming up with trivia questions. One guy even had Euro soccer on lock.

It was a “Do Your Job” type of regime and it was so beautiful to be a part of.

That TEAM of Blitzers is what led us to never missing a single day of sending the newsletter and a successful product.

Shadow Lion 🤝 Celtics

Shadow Lion, the sports media company I currently work for, executed a 5-part docuseries following the Boston Celtics in real-time from the start of the 2024 playoffs all the way through their Championship win.

Each episode was 20+ minutes and came out just days after each playoff series ended.

Growing up as a Boston sports fan, this was really f****** cool to be a part of.

The content lived on the Celtics socials, but the NBA put it on their YouTube channel in a full-length mini movie…

This was the ULTIMATE team project.

If you want to test the limits of how strong your team culture is, try producing 2 hours of a high-quality docuseries following an NBA team that gets published in real-time forcing the team to work sleepless nights.

I was the smallest possible piece of this entire project as it was my first few weeks on the new job, but it was incredible to watch the team come together to pull this off. Truly inspiring.

I would walk into the office in the morning, flick on the lights, and accidently wake up editors sleeping on couches.

From the in-arena shooters to the interview team and producers to sound / music guys to graphic designers and so many other aspects of the project I am missing, this couldn’t have been accomplished without a passionate squad with the same mindset trying to win.

It took a TEAM.

It was a smashing success from a total viewership standpoint.

The Celtics media team was ecstatic about the content.

FanDuel as the presenting sponsor was STOKED.

Shadow Lion is now looking for our next team to feature in the “All In” series.

Smashing success for the team, by the team.

Our TEAM celebrated by raising our own Banner #18 in the office:

On the court, The Celtics winning a championship is the definition of TEAMWORK in itself. All while the world was trying to tear apart Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown but we don’t need to get into that…

Speaking of teamwork, nothing says “TEAM” like some company merch. Branded Bills is an unreal option if you need something quality and quick.

Every click on the below ad is money that will be going towards my gambling addiction this NFL season, so please smash the hyperlinks…

Personality Hats are in

Fashion has spoken, and the personality hat is all the rage these days. You know what that means? It means it’s a great time to put your logo on a hat.

Talking about all the rage these days, you’re going to want to make it a Branded Bills hat. They make quality merch people actually want to wear.

Don’t just take it from us, see what a happy client has to say about the branded hats they just ordered:

They're wearing them to bowling alleys, sporting events, etc.” Rebecca Ferguson, Empire CAT

If you want to make a statement with your company merch, hit up Branded Bills.

Blooper Reel

Let’s step out of the work world for a lesson on teamwork…

One of my buddies is single. Real solid looking dude (no diddy).

His Rizz level is like a 6.8 out of 10. Not gonna wow you on the film but can get the job done when needed.

Well, this little buddy of mine decided to take the game into his own hands a few weekends back at the bar.

YUGE mistake.

He has a very reliable stable of strapping young stallion friends to help him chat up the room.

But no, he’s “got this”.

He left his TEAM of friends in the bullpen.

Well, safe to say he fumbled the bag.

He refused to use his surrounding assets, made a selfish decision and the result was a failure.

Nice work, bud.

Hot Take?

TOUGH offseason for James

James Harden will never win an NBA Championship.

One of the most talented players in the league but extremely selfish. He’s a bad teammate.

I’m not just saying that as a random NBA fan but will keep my sources close to my chest on this one.

There’s a reason he’s bounced around to so many different teams.

He can’t commit to a winning culture. There is always a problem in the locker room.

I’ve got nothing against James Harden and maybe he’s a good dude, but he clearly isn’t a team guy.

You need to BUY IN and good things will happen.

You’ll love the result.

Your family, friends, co-workers can be your teammates and will lead you to the promise land.

Hell, I’ll play for your team any day. Just hit me up

That’s it though folks, I really love you all.

Completely different note and because I love football - I’m 1-0 on NFL locks with the Bears covering -1 last week in the Hall of Fame Game. Follow me on Twitter for picks. I’ll be here all week.

Enjoy NFL pre-season tomorrow night. PEACE!

P.S.

The audience of is this bad Larry is growing. I honestly didn’t expect that or start this Diary with that goal in mind. Simply enjoy writing and getting some personal stories out in the world to hopefully influence a few young (or old) souls.

Appreciate everyone tapping into these on a weekly basis. Much love.

See you homies next week!

Oh, don’t forget to reply to these emails with some feedback. I haven’t gotten a “this F***** sucks” email in a few weeks and I want to be humbled.

Shoutout to my favorite 2024 Olympic athlete making $500K a day from NBC… I’d play for Dogg’s team any day.
